COCA-COLA NOW NOW IN THE MILK BUSINESS

Coca Cola, the most popular and biggest selling soft drink in the world is getting into the milk business. Is that not a surprise?

A product known as Fair Life has just been introduced into the Market this February by the Coca Cola Company in the US. This new adventure by the company is primarily due to a reduction in the consumption of soda drinks fuelled by increasing health concerns associated with soft drinks in the US, Canada, and some European countries. With Coca Cola and Pepsi controlling 50% of the market, little wonder they are the hardest hit by this plunge in sales. But is this the alternative to the nose diving sales, and how will this affect the popular Coca-Cola brand?

Sandy Douglas, the president of Coke’s North American region says that the new product has the potential to “rain money”. He sounded quite certain for a product that is just starting out.

If this is introduced in Nigeria and indeed, Africa, how successful will it be? Some people felt that with the success of the FIVE ALIVE brand and the increasing acceptance of the Yoghourt business in Nigeria, Coca Cola’s milk products may just be the next big thing if introduced, particularly, riding on the goodwill of the popular Coca-Cola brand.
