Globacom Limited, fondly called Glo, is a Nigerian multinational telecommunication company that is driven with the vision to build the largest and best telecommunications network in Africa. It has in the past 19 years pioneered numerous innovations which have helped propel its rapid growth and expansion.

The company made history as the first single company to build a high-capacity sub marine fibre-optic cable, popularly known as Glo-1, the first successful submarine cable from the United Kingdom to Nigeria; with the attendant high increases in internet speeds and download rates with resultant significant improvements in online technologies. This ensures the availability of bandwidth to enterprise customers in West Africa. The 9,800km-long undersea cable has landing points in Lagos, Nigeria; Accra, Ghana; Dakar, Senegal; Nouakchott, Mauritania; Casablanca, Morocco; Sesimbra, Portugal; Vigo, Spain and Bude in England.

Glo 1 delivers a much faster and robust connectivity for voice, data and video with some of the lowest latencies between Africa and its gateway in London.

In Nigeria, Glo fibre optic cable network, powered by a managed IP MPLS network, covers the farthest parts of the country. It gives businesses in over 130 cities low latency, faster connectivity and expanded bandwidth to carry voice, video, and data reliably.

Nicknamed the grandmaster of data, Glo powers over 56 million Nigerian phone users according to the Nigerian communications commission, NCC, making it the second largest telecom provider in the country.

With the largest and fastest 4G LTE Network in Nigeria and a robust data network in Ghana, Glo provides seamless voice and data connectivity; enabling HD video streaming, video and voice calls, super-fast downloads, online gaming and much more.

In recent years, Globacom has played a major role in the country’s march to a digital future by introducing a range of customised and community-driven voice and data connectivity solutions that help to manage complex networking systems. Globacom also provides secured as well as verticalised IT solutions such as E-Health, Smart Cognitive Learning, Smart Energy, Industrial IoT, and Cloud Applications.

Globacom recently launched a first-of-its-kind mobile TV service that will offer premium all-round entertainment, news and sports content to them. The service which is called Glo TV is set to become Nigeria’s one-stop entertainment destination.
