T2 Nigeria, formerly 9mobile, has undergone a significant transformation to redefine its position in Nigeria’s telecommunications industry. In August 2025, the company unveiled its new brand identity at the ‘Tech Meets Tenacity’ event in Lagos, marking a pivotal moment in its journey.

The rebranding to T2 signifies more than just a change in name; it represents an opportunity for a comprehensive strategic overhaul. The company has adopted a vibrant orange color scheme, symbolizing a fresh and bold approach to the market. T2 aims to position itself as a digital-first telecom operator, focusing on innovation, customer experience, and digital lifestyle services.

T2’s transformation is anchored in a four-phase recovery plan: Stabilization, Modernization, Transformation, and Growth. This plan was initiated following the 2023 acquisition of 9mobile by Lighthouse Telecoms. The acquisition provided the company with the necessary resources and direction to embark on this ambitious journey.

Key milestones in T2’s transformation include:

  • Leadership Overhaul: The company has reconstituted its board and appointed new executive leadership to drive its strategic objectives.
  • Infrastructure Enhancement: T2 has entered into a landmark three-year national roaming agreement with MTN Nigeria. This collaboration allows T2 subscribers to access MTN’s extensive network, improving coverage and service quality nationwide.
  • Digital Transformation: The company is leveraging cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, and data analytics to offer personalized services and enhance customer engagement.

Despite facing challenges, T2 has shown resilience. In July 2025, the company reported its first subscriber growth in 20 months, adding over 290,000 new users. This growth indicates a positive response to the rebranding and the company’s renewed focus on customer satisfaction.

Looking ahead, T2 is committed to:

  • Expanding its digital services portfolio to cater to the evolving needs of Nigeria’s tech-savvy population.
  • Enhancing network reliability and coverage through strategic partnerships and infrastructure investments.
  • Fostering innovation and creativity by supporting startups, content creators, and entrepreneurs.
